Araucania

Araucania

Araucania Yarns was founded in 2002 by Michelle Boisier, an architect, inspired by her mother who was always very keen on wools and the art of dyeing. Araucania Yarns use the best raw materials from around the world in order to obtain exclusive fibers and colours which are inspired by the sights and the nature of Chile. The dyeing of the wools is the main focus of Araucania Yarns, which is based on ancient techniques of the native mapuches, producing more than 40 products full of quality, history and originality, always in harmony with the environment. The pattern support for Araucania Yarns comes from Jenny Watson who has worked in the hand knitting industry for over twenty years and gained valuable experience from many leading United Kingdom brands working as Chief Designer for Sirdar, Emu, Robin and Studley. Working for these companies gave her valuable experience across a diverse range of both yarns and companies. In more recent years she has worked as a freelance designer allowing her time to spend with her children, living in a small Yorkshire (England) spa town of Ilkley, she is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, heart of the hand knitting industry, which is a constant inspiration to her.
